当地时间8月21日晚，国家主席习近平抵达约翰内斯堡，出席金砖国家领导人第十五次会晤并对南非进行国事访问。

时值午夜时分，习近平乘坐的车队从机场前往下榻饭店途中，华侨华人自发等候在沿途街道，挥舞中南两国国旗，高举“中南友谊万岁”等横幅，热烈欢迎习近平到访。
